2012 July 20 – Australian Lung Foundation appoints new Chairman

The Australian Lung Foundation has recently appointed Associate Professor David Serisier as National Council Chairman.

Associate Professor Serisier is the Director of Adult Respiratory Medicine and Cystic Fibrosis at the Mater Adult Hospital in Brisbane and has special interests in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and non-CF Bronchiectasis.

The newly appointed chairman brings a positive new outlook and with change, comes opportunity.

Associate Professor Serisier is delighted to take on the role of Chairman. “It is a great honour to be appointed as National Council Chairman and I am really excited about the opportunity to help guide the great work that The Lung Foundation undertakes.  I am looking forward to exciting times ahead for the foundation,” said Associate Professor Serisier.

The new chairman has served on the National Council as a Councillor and National Council Executive Committee member since 2010, and is a past Treasurer of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Robert Edwards tendered his resignation as Chairman and Councillor of The Australian Lung Foundation National Council last month. Dr Edwards has served as Chairman for the past 18 years and has provided solid leadership and guidance, without fear or favour. His strategic vision has underpinned the journey of the Lung Foundation and driven our success to achieve one goal after another.

Chief Executive Officer, William Darbishire, wished Dr Edwards all the best in his future endeavors and congratulated Associate Professor Serisier on his new role. “We very much look forward to working with David and are thrilled he has accepted this role,” said Mr Darbishire.
