Closure of Westlung Support Group, Wentworthville, Sydney

Lung Foundation Australia advises readers of the closure of the Westlung Support Group in June. The Committee and members came to this difficult decision due to a declining membership base. The Group had been running for over 15 years and initially started at Westmead Hospital with the aim of providing ongoing support and friendship to the participants of the pulmonary rehabilitation program. Although the Group had a number of leaders over the years, the longest serving and most devoted leader was Bob Lewis who passed away in July 2013. The Group was most recently lead by President Bruce Buesnel OAM, supported by Vice-President Ted Waters, long-serving Secretary Margaret Wardle and Treasurer Joan Resnik who all dedicated many hours to the organisation of the Group. We thank all Westlung Committee members past and present for their efforts over the years. Remaining funds from the Group have been directed to the Lung Foundation for specific purposes as directed by the Committee.
