Lung Foundation Australia takes to the airwaves

With the launch of our first Lung Foundation Australia Airwaves Clinical Update, I would like to reflect on the variety of activities we offer in the clinical sphere. Within this and future e-newsletters, you will find links to resources, articles of interest, research awards and upcoming events. Lung Foundation Australia is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that promotes lung health and supports all aspects of lung disease – from IPF to cancer to COPD. We have a proud history of education and run a free call patient Information and Support Centre which provides support for both the general community and health professionals. As a national organisation, we advocate strongly on lung-related issues, fund and promote research, develop educational fact-sheets and offer training for health professionals. We firmly believe that the best way to create change is to involve all parties and we approach our work from a centre of scientific and clinical rigour. Lung Foundation Australia also works to develop relationships with government and other influential stakeholders in respiratory health to highlight the clinical, financial and personal impacts of lung disease. We run public awareness campaigns to draw attention to the importance of lung health, the symptoms of lung disease and encourage people to seek professional advice if they are concerned. Our programs cover both consumer and professional education in the areas of lung health and respiratory/lung disease. I hope you find this e-newsletter useful and look forward to hearing your feedback about what you would like to see in future editions of the newsletter.
