In August, we welcomed Cathy Sowden to the Lung Foundation team. Based in Sydney, Cathy’s role is focused on developing our bequests program and working on the new strategic research initiative Lungs for Life, a collaboration between Lung Foundation Australia and the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Also in August, we bade farewell to Karen Lather, Project Assistant – Lung Cancer and COPD who took up a new job closer to her home. Karen was a long-serving staff member having worked in a variety of roles for over 10 years. These included overseeing the Australasian Lung cancer Trials Group (ALTG), helping organise the Australian Lung Cancer Conference and regularly updating the COPD-X website.
In September, we farewelled Damon Cavalchini, Senior Manager – Lung Health National Program. Damon worked on many successful campaigns – Check in With Your Lungs, Just One Breath, Pneumonia Awareness Week and QUIT4october. We wish both Karen and Damon all the best.
