Would you like to participate in a clinical trial aimed at relieving the symptom of BREATHLESSNESS?

The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing has provided funding for a national multisite Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (PaCCSC). Flinders University, as the coordinating site of the Collaborative is currently funded to undertake a number of clinical drug trials across Australia.

A randomised controlled trial of sertraline, an anti-depressant which is also commonly used to treat anxiety is currently recruiting participants. Previous research suggests that sertraline may have a role in reducing the subjective sensation of breathlessness such as difficult, laboured or uncomfortable breathing. The aim of this study is to test the efficacy of sertraline compared with standard care in relieving the intensity of breathlessness.
