Advanced COPD research captured on video
Research is one of the most effective ways to improve the prevention, detection, treatment and management of lung disease. Lung Foundation Australia’s Board has identified the need to address the critical underfunding in this area as a key priority, both through our advocacy and fundraising activities.
We’ve set the ambitious goal that by 2020 we will be contributing $5 million a year to support research through both research awards and research platforms including our lung cancer trials groups and our disease-based registries (IPF and Bronchiectasis).
To do this we work with our industry and academic partners to maximise this investment. One of these partnerships is the Lung Foundation Australia/Boehringer Ingelheim COPD Research Fellowship, has successfully advanced COPD in the research space with outcomes that have made a significant difference across the entire care continuum.
We recently launched a series of videos highlighting the amazing research projects of past recipients of the fellowship. These videos feature four recipients and follow their research, clinical and educational journeys.
Since its inception in 1995 almost two million dollars has been awarded to recipients of the Fellowship which aims to support research to improve the diagnosis and management of COPD in Australia.
To learn more about the recipients’ successful research careers, how they started out and where they are now, watch their individual videos by clicking here. Their passion for research and their steely focus on patient outcomes is truly inspirational.
