Farewell to Lung Foundation friends
In this issue we recognise four people who have significantly contributed to the work of Lung Foundation Australia over the years.
There is insufficient space in this newsletter to truly do justice to the extent of their involvement with us, however, it is important we acknowledge them and their dedication and commitment to the Lung Foundation.
Garry Clarkson – We pay tribute to Garry, a founding member of the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) Peer-to-Peer Support Group who passed away in July 2016. Garry will be remembered for his passion, leadership and tireless work to improve support for IPF patients and their carers.
Bryan Clift – Bryan was a great friend and supporter of the Lung Foundation and a passionate advocate for those in Australia with lung disease. Bryan had COPD and passed away on 28 July 2016. He was one of life’s true gentlemen and will be remembered fondly and loved by all who knew him.
Kay Harrison – Kay was a long-time committee member of the WestAir Patient Support Group in Adelaide working tirelessly to secure local community grants. She recognised the importance of belonging to a Support Group and having access to friendship and information on a regular basis.
Phillip Nicholson – As a COPD patient, Phil was a passionate advocate of supporting patients with lung disease. He was a founding member of the Breathe Easy S.T.A.A.R.S. Patient Support Group in the Northern Territory, holding a variety of committee positions for over 10 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
