Lung cancer experts gathering at the 6th Australian Lung Cancer Conference
This week, experts from around the world are gathering in Melbourne to share the latest information and research about Australia’s biggest cancer killer – lung cancer.
Proudly hosted Lung Foundation Australia, the 6th Australian Lung Cancer Conference (ALCC) brings together physicians, surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, general practitioners, nurses, patients and carers at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 18 – 20 August.
The 2016 program is an exciting combination of science, technology, research and supportive care. This year we welcome five international experts to the conference who will share their international knowledge and expertise with the 400 delegates attending. With a theme focussing on ‘the need for high quality and high value care’, topics include:
- The impact of lung cancer on the Australian community and the need for high quality/high value care
- Advancements in treatment and care
- Therapy including surgery and radiation
- Advanced technologies
- Lung cancer screening
- Management of early stage lung cancer
- Precision medicine/targeted therapies
There are also four industry sponsored symposiums also in the program for delegates to attend and hear presentations from both our international and national speakers.
Today we’re hosting a pre-conference workshop ‘Better Living With Lung Cancer Consumer Forum’ where 40 patients and carers are coming together to hear presentations on practical strategies that will help living life to the full and accessing the right treatment and support.
