Lung Cancer Network Australia update
It’s not too late to host a Shine a Light event and raise funds for lung cancer research
November is International Lung Cancer Awareness Month and we’d love you to host a Shine a Light on lung cancer awareness event and help us raise much needed funds for lung cancer research. Less than five cents in every cancer research dollar is spent on lung cancer1 – despite it being Australia’s biggest cancer killer – and this year we hope to raise $50,000 for lung cancer research!
These events are simple to host. You could have a morning tea, bake-off or sausage sizzle with colleagues. For tips on how to get started, visit http://lungcancernetwork.com.au/get-involved/shine-a-light-on-lung-cancer/.
To support your event, we have free t-shirts, awareness pins and wristbands as well as lung cancer information and resources. You can also set up your own Shine a Light fundraising page to raise funds for lung cancer research through your community of family and friends or simply make a tax deductible donation by visiting www.lungcancernetwork.com.au and click on ‘Donate’ on the top right hand side.
As Sydney Shine a Light lung cancer patient advocate, Lillian Leigh has eloquently said research equals hope. Donate now, and help us bring more hope and better outcomes for lung cancer patients and their families.
Vale to Lois Gatley
We are saddened by the recent passing of Lois Gatley, a proud WA lung cancer patient advocate who generously helped raise lung cancer awareness and research funds while living with the disease. Lois helped organise last year’s highly successful Perth Shine a Light on lung cancer awareness event.
