Lung Cancer Network Australia update

Kerrie Callaghan, Lung Cancer Network Australia Project Manager, Lung Foundation Australia

Shine a Light on lung cancer events raised more than $50,000 in November

We are thrilled about the success of our 2016 Shine a Light on lung cancer awareness and fundraising campaign. Events included a Brisbane Gala Ball, four community walks,10 morning teas/lunches, 10 hospital information stands and a movie night. A big thank you to all of our wonderful supporters who helped us reach our fundraising target.

The 2015 and 2016 Shine a Light on lung cancer events have raised almost $100,000. These funds will be directly invested in lung cancer research and our aim is to leverage these funds to ensure the maximum return on investment and ensure the quality of the research undertaken will improve outcomes for Australians living with lung cancer. The Shine a Light on lung cancer Research Awards will be announced later in the year.

New Facebook group for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR mutation

A new closed Facebook group “EGFR Lung Cancer” has been set up for Australian patients living with NSCLC with an EGFR mutation. To join the group go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/EGFRLungCancer/ and click on the ‘Join Group’ button. Please note: this is a private/closed Facebook group and is not a Lung Foundation Australia moderated Facebook page.
