Lung Foundation Australia Appoints New Chair
Lung Foundation Australia is pleased to confirm Professor Christine Jenkins has been appointed as our new Chairman at the National Board meeting on 16 October.
Professor Jenkins has been a long term supporter of Lung Foundation Australia at both a Board and Committee level.
She has had major roles in advocacy and leadership for lung health in Australia, chairing the National Asthma Campaign, the Federal Government’s National Asthma Advisory Group and many local and international guidelines and implementation initiatives. She was president of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) from 2007 – 2009.
Professor Jenkins’ main area of research interest is the clinical management of airways disease and patient reported outcomes in response to therapeutic interventions, especially in asthma and COPD management and pulmonary rehabilitation in Australia and Asia. In 2002, she was made a Member in the Order of Australia for recognition of service to respiratory medicine as a physician, administrator and educator, especially in the field of asthma education.
Professor Jenkins will take up the position as Lung Foundation Australia Board Chairman from 1 January 2016. Mr Andrew Churchill will continue in the role of Acting Chairman until then.
