Lung Foundation Australia’s new ‘Love Your Lungs’ club

On 1 September, Lung Foundation Australia officially launched our new membership community, the ‘Love Your Lungs’ club which replaced our existing Supporter Membership.

The ‘Love Your Lungs’ club is for everyone – patients, families, friends and the general community – and is a great way to show people with lung disease how much you care. By joining the club, you are helping Lung Foundation Australia drive advocacy, awareness, education, support and research programs which help the entire community. Look out for regular updates on the club in this newsletter.

What does this mean for you?

From May 2017, only ‘Love Your Lungs’ club members will be able to receive a hard copy of our quarterly LungNet News in the mail. Even though you are currently receiving a hard copy of LungNet News, it does not mean you are automatically a Lung Foundation Australia financial member. If you wish to continue receiving a hard copy of the newsletter and you are unsure whether you are a financial member, please call us on 1800 654 301 or email enquiries@lungfoundation.com.au to check your membership status. If you are a current financial member, you will receive a reminder when your membership is due for renewal.

If you are not a member, you can still choose to receive the electronic version of LungNet News by email free of charge. If you wish to change to this option, please call us on 1800 654 301 or email enquiries@lungfoundation.com.au. You will also be able to download or print copies directly from our website.

What does membership of the ‘Love Your Lungs’ club cost?

The new club will cost $30 per year.

What benefits will I receive?

Membership of the ‘Love Your Lungs’ club will offer access to a variety of benefits for supporters which include:

  • Supporter gifts: wristband and bumper sticker
  • Posted copy of LungNet News each quarter
  • 15 per cent discount on Air Liquide Healthcare’s complete respiratory range (excluding rental or delivery)
  • 20 per cent discount on entry to Patient Seminars
  • 20 per cent discount on patient resources (where a cost applies)
  • Advance notice of Lung Foundation Australia special offers/events/campaigns and programs
  • Access to our online supporter discount program which has great deals on travel, restaurants, shopping and other items

Why have we made this change?

LungNet News has been distributed free of charge to approximately 12,000 recipients for over 20 years. However, over recent years, we have been faced with the increasing costs of printing and distribution, as well as continued price rises from Australia Post. It has become increasingly expensive to cover the cost of mailing a hard copy of the newsletter. LungNet News is a valued resource and placing a small price on it ensures we can more effectively use the funds generously contributed to us while continuing LungNet News’ proud history.
In this issue of LungNet News, you will find enclosed a membership form and Reply Paid Envelope to enable you to join the ‘Love Your Lungs’ club.
