Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month

Connect to Care

Being told you or someone you love has Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) can be a very overwhelming and frightening experience. It can make all the difference to connect with someone else who has the same condition – someone who understands what you are going through.

To address this need, we offer a peer to peer matching service for people living with PF. The service matches eligible people to otherin a similar situation, via phone or email.

Peer support: What is it and does it work?

  • Peer support involves people sharing knowledge and lived experience.
  • There is evidence that peer support can help people feel more knowledgeable, confident and happy – and less isolated and alone.
  • Peer support involves people drawing on shared personal experience to provide knowledge, social interaction, emotional assistance or practical help to each other in ways that is often mutually beneficial.
  • Meeting to share experiences and talk about what works for them

Connect to Research

Lung Foundation Australia is proud to support the Pulmonary Fibrosis Australasian Clinical Trials Network (PACT).

PACT unites leading clinicians and researchers from across Australia and New Zealand to design, conduct and analyse clinical trials that will help find new advances in the diagnosis, treatments and management of pulmonary fibrosis.

Clinical trials are the most effective way of evaluating the success of new treatment options for people living with conditions like pulmonary fibrosis.

People participate in clinical trials for a number of reasons and some of the key benefits include:

– Accessing the newest treatments that are currently not widely available.
– Gaining a better understanding of their disease and helping others in the future.
– Playing a more active role in their own healthcare.
– Receiving additional care from the clinical trial staff.
