About

Grants and Awards Program

Our Research Grants and Awards Program would not exist without the collaboration and support of the community and a number of industry and private partners.

Investing in research

Over the past 30 years, Lung Foundation Australia has raised and investment over $40 million to support advances in lung disease and lung cancer research. This includes 31 clinical trials in pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer, and over 260 research grants for Australian lung health researchers.

In honour of our 30th anniversary, we’re highlighting 30 reasons to donate to life-changing lung disease and lung cancer research. These reasons are being shared through the compelling stories of those affected, and by the researchers we support who are working tirelessly to discover life-saving breakthroughs.

Research saves lives and gives hope for a cure. You can help give Australians living with lung disease and lung cancer hope for a brighter future fund by donating.

Research Awards

Our Research Awards Program identifies and encourages new, innovative research projects across a broad range of lung disease areas that will in turn contribute to:

  • A deeper understanding of the cause, prevalence and impact of a wide variety of lung diseases.
  • Development of new diagnostic methods and treatment options.
  • Improved outcomes and quality of life for patients.

We strengthen and support the translation of research into clinical practice by ensuring our awards are offered across the breadth of multidisciplinary team professions.

Opportunities include fellowships and PhD scholarships, project grants and grants-in-aid. There are also a number of travel grants offered each year which allow researchers to collaborate and showcase their work nationally and internationally.
