Lungs in Action

Lungs in Action is a community exercise program run by exercise professionals that helps you to maintain the health and wellbeing benefits achieved during pulmonary rehabilitation.

Lungs in Action classes are flexible, and are tailored to suit your individual needs, depending on whether you have a mild, moderate, or severe lung disease. Classes include exercises such as walking, upper and lower body strength exercises, balance, and stretches, as well as seated options for those who are more breathless or who require supplemental oxygen or a walking aid.

Regular exercise helps to improve symptoms such as breathlessness, which helps increase independence and make daily activities such as cooking or washing easier. The classes also provide a unique opportunity to meet and socialise with people living with a lung condition.

These classes are designed for people with chronic lung conditions, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, and/or stable heart failure (Class I, II, and III).

To participate, you need to have completed pulmonary or cardiac rehabilitation within the last 6 months. You will also need a referral from your respiratory or cardiac specialist, rehabilitation physiotherapist or doctor.

Join our Lungs in Action community and express interest by completing the online form. Our team member will be in touch soon.

"Lungs in Action changed my life completely. The exercises help my breathing and I’m fit again.”
