You can make a difference to the lives of people like Bill
Despite his own battle with IPF – a progressive and fatal lung disease – husband, father-of three and grandfather-to-five, Bill Van Nierop is motivated to drive funding for more research into lung disease so he, and others on a similar journey, have more time with their loved ones.
“There is no cure for IPF. No magic treatment, no miraculous new drug. This disease will steal the quality time I want to spend with my wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
I think of the plans my wife and I made for the future that will never be realised. The journey my children will take through life that I won’t get to be involved in, or be proud of. The development of our grandchildren through childhood to adolescence to young adulthood, that I will not be there to enjoy.”
I am fighting for more time with my family. I am fighting for more research into lung disease. I am asking you to join me in the fight. Are you with me?
I would like to buy more time for people living with lung disease
More research is needed to find new treatments and provide hope for prevention and one day, a cure
The current survival rate of IPF is as low as some of the most devastating cancers. Thanks to research, recent advances in new treatments are helping to slow the progression of the disease in some cases. While this is promising, more research is desperately needed to better understand this complex disease so we can drive further progress of treatments, improve the late rate of diagnosis, support psychological management and search for a cure.
