What is breathlessness?
Breathlessness is a highly prevalent, complex symptom in clinical practice. It is the cardinal symptom of many chronic respiratory and cardiac conditions, and a key indicator for poorly controlled chronic airways disease.
In consultation with national key opinion leaders in breathlessness, Lung Foundation Australia has developed an education package focused on identifying, assessing and diagnosing breathlessness.
A self-paced eLearning module introduces the breathlessness checklist shared-care tool and includes a reflective practice audit guide. It also provides evidence-based methos for identifying and assessing breathlessness, practical self-management advice for patients, and ongoing resources and support
By completing the Breathlessness eLearning, you will acquire the skills to:
- Identify breathlessness as an important presenting symptom of chronic airways disease (CAD) and other conditions
- Identify and determine where breathlessness is a symptom of chronic airways disease
- Implement clinically appropriate diagnostic and referral pathways, e.g. spirometry, imaging, sputum examination, and blood tests, in their clinical practice.
The Breathlessness Education Package will take you approximately an hour to complete. Upon completing the module you will be able to access the Reflective Practice Audits and additional resources to support your learning.
