Choosing to be vape free

Choosing to be vape free

This resource from Lung Foundation Australia was developed in collaboration with Na Joomelah and National Best Practice Unit (NBPU) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to know the facts about vaping and empower them to choose vape free.

When you choose to vape, there may be things you are missing out on. Vaping can affect your physical health which can affect how you perform in sport and other activities. Spending your money on vapes adds up and may leave you having to miss out on things like grabbing a feed and so much more.
What are you missing out on when you choose to vape. A feed? Being the game-winning try scorer? Or taking the quick way home with the mob? You can make the right choice. Choose vape free.

Health Harms of Vaping

Vaping is harmful to your body, causing symptoms like vomiting, chest pain, mouth and airway irritation, and a racing heartbeat. Vapes contain over 200 toxic chemicals and flavorings that are dangerous to inhale. These chemicals are also used in products like cleaning agents, paint, and petrol.

Almost all vapes sold in Australia contain nicotine, a toxic and highly addictive chemical that can harm young developing brains. One vape can contain as much nicotine as 50 cigarettes.

Quitting Vaping

Choosing to be vape-free is beneficial for you, those around you, and the environment. Our land and waterways rely on us to keep them clean and healthy. Vapes are harmful to the environment, polluting our land and waterways with toxic chemicals, heavy metals, and microplastics.Quitting vaping can improve your physical and mental wellbeing. Support services like Aboriginal Quitline and local Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) teams are available to help you quit.
