Healthy Lungs at Work Quiz

The gift of breath

Lung health can change at any time

When lung health changes, trusted support must be there.

For some people, it starts with worrying symptoms. For others, it comes with a diagnosis, unexpected test results, or the experience of supporting someone they love. Many Australians don’t know where to turn to when that moment arrives.

That’s why the Lung Health Helpline exists.

It connects people with expert nurses who provide trusted information, guidance, and reassurance so no one has to face lung disease alone.

About the Lung Health Helpline

The Helpline is free, confidential, and available nationwide, connecting people all over Australia with:

  • Specialised Lung Cancer and Respiratory Care Nurses and social workers
  • Clear, trusted information
  • Expert guidance when symptoms feel frightening or uncertain
  • Reassurance and understanding for families and carers
  • Help navigating next steps, questions, and options

Last year:

  • 7,148 times Australians turned to the Lung Health Helpline for support
  • 400,000+ people turned to our resources for guidance on breathing easier and living well
  • 39,942 people used the Lung Health Checklist to protect the gift of breath

Barbara's Story

After being diagnosed with lung disease, Barbara felt anxious, isolated, and unsure where to turn.

"I went from feeling helpless to feeling empowered. I know what to ask for, I know how to manage my symptoms, and I don't feel alone anymore."

With the right knowledge and support from Lung Foundation Australia’s Lung Health Helpline, Barbara transformed how she manages her lung health. Today she attends a rehabilitation gym twice a week, follows a structured exercise plan, and confidently advocates for herself within the healthcare system.

Barbara’s experience shows the impact of trusted information, expert care, and community support when lung disease becomes part of someone’s life.
