Each year, thousands of Australian workers continue to be exposed to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) across construction, mining, tunnelling, quarrying, manufacturing and emerging industries. Are you proactively identifying at-risk workers and monitoring their lung health in your practice? With recently updated National Guidance now available, GPs play a critical role in early identification, timely diagnosis and appropriate management of silica-related disease in primary care.

Join our expert panel to hear how to identify at-risk workers, diagnose silica-related conditions earlier, and provide evidence-based care aligned with updated national guidelines.

Submit your questions for our panel at registration, or during the live session. Register now to view live or on-demand from the following day.

Speakers:

  • Dr Rob McDonald, Occupational and Environmental Physician
  • A/Prof Ryan Hoy, Respiratory Physician
  • Dr Sean Dwyer, General Practitioner

Learning Outcomes

  • Summarise the key updates to the National Guidance and their implications for clinical practice.
  • Interpret the updated National Guidance to apply appropriate investigations, including spirometry and imaging, and determine when specialist referral is indicated.
  • Assess occupational exposure risk by evaluating jobs, tasks, exposure intensity, and cumulative exposure in line with the updated National Guidance.

This virtual learning event is accredited with RACGP and ACRRM for one hour of Educational Activity (EA).
