We know everyone’s situation is different so people with lung cancer should continue to follow any specific advice or standard precautions recommended by their healthcare team to minimise the risk of infection, during and after treatment. Telehealth consultations via telephone or video calling apps are available through most health professionals, allowing you to speak with your healthcare team from your home.
Where can Aussies living with lung cancer find more information about the impact of COVID-19? With COVID-19, the world is changing and things are different for us all. As a consequence, the Lung Foundation Australia wants to provide factual and relative information to all lung cancer patients from clinical professionals. That’s the only place that you should be seeking to get your information, is from health, and the Lung Foundation as a verified source of information.
Along with this, we want patients to actually go out and go to the doctor where they need to. If you’re concerned about traveling, or getting to the doctor, please use the telehealth facilities that are available today. This allows you to have a video call with your doctor. Or if you actually need to go in and see your doctor, call ahead first and arrange. So that you could sit in your car and wait for the doctor, and get them to call you when they’re ready, so that you can walk straight into the doctor. It’s these sort of changes that will allow us to continue to provide health services and not be afraid to go out and continue to get that healthcare that we need.
