Lung Foundation Australia is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2026 Grants and Awards Program.
Each year, we invest in high-quality research that deepens our understanding of lung disease and lung cancer, accelerates innovation in diagnosis and treatment, and improves care for people living with lung disease. Our Grants and Awards Program support researchers across Australia who are driving meaningful progress in their fields.
This year’s recipients represent an outstanding group of emerging and established researchers whose work spans laboratory research, translational science, clinical research and implementation science. A full list of recipients and projects can be found here.
“We are incredibly proud to support the 2026 research grant and award recipients, who have now become part of our alumni network. Their dedication, creativity and scientific excellence are paving the way for breakthroughs that will benefit thousands of Australians. At Lung Foundation Australia, we are committed to funding research that saves lives, improves quality of care, and gives real hope to people impacted by lung disease and lung cancer. This year’s recipients embody that mission, and we are excited to see the impact of their work.” – Professor Lucy Morgan
This year’s investments reflect diverse approaches to tackling lung health challenges, including discovery-based projects looking at new biomarkers and disease mechanisms, health service projects investigating respiratory department services provided by hospitals and national infrastructure projects collecting population level-data to make informed health service decisions.
This year, we have chosen to invest in research activities across the ecosystem including building workforce capability, career development, and national strategic partnerships, in line with our new Corporate Plan and Research Program Strategy.
Thank you to our Donors and Partners
Our Grants and Awards Program is funded through the generosity of individual donors, philanthropic partners, corporate supporters and our community. Their contributions power research that provides hope for our community, from their first breath to their last.
