Together we’re making a difference

Our ability to keep making a difference and improving lung health for everyone is only possible because of your generous support. Every little bit helps, from dedicated funds, donations or time volunteered.

Every contribution you make supports our mission have a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of thousands of Australians.

What your donations go towards

Your donation, no matter how big or small, helps us to support better lung health for all Australians, especially those living with or impacted by lung disease and lung cancer. Look at the difference we’ve already made together just over this last year.

Our key initiatives

Leading the way for a national lung cancer screening program

We pushed hard for this vital initiative, along with our partners and the community. The announcement of Australia’s first lung cancer screening program is a huge step forward, and is projected to save 12,000 lives in its first 10 years.

Driving the ban on harmful artificial stone benchtops

We were instrumental in bringing about the ban on the use and import of engineered stone. This makes Australia a global leader in the fight against silicosis, a preventable lung disease that could have impacted 600,000 Australian workers.

Championing strict vaping rules

After years of dedicated advocacy efforts, the Australian Government passed new vaping laws, effective 1 October 2024. These laws are a game-changer, designed to protect the next generation of Australians from lung damage and nicotine addiction.

Empowered by experts

Effective, high-quality lung health research needs a brilliant and talented community of researchers. Together, we’re helping grow the opportunities, capabilities and capacity for more life-changing research.

“The Hope Research Fund has not only helped progress my research in pulmonary fibrosis, but also the research of one of my PHD students. It helps early researchers produce better quality work and build their confidence in securing bigger grants”.

Change is made through collective forces, never by a single person. So whether it’s your time, money, or blood for research, it’s all meaningful, not just to researchers but ultimately to present and future patients.

Empowered by the community

Everything we do to support, advocate, educate and research about lung disease and lung cancer, begins with our community and their lived experiences. Together, we’re helping to share hope and support with our community.

Queenslander Anita Demchenko, just 46, was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) after seven years of seeking answers.

“My experience underscores the invaluable role that organisations like Lung Foundation Australia play in empowering individuals facing respiratory challenges, providing a beacon of knowledge and support in the face of uncertainty and misdiagnosis.”
