This infographic is episode 1 of a three-part series of infographics that aim to educate around the health risks and dangers of using vapes. This three-part infographic series has been developed for any tradies who use vapes. Episode one uncovers what is inside vapes, and if you use them, what you are inevitably inhaling through use. This infographic identifies six of the common chemicals, and what other products they are commonly use in or found in. You may recognise some as products you work with on a day to day as tradies. This infographic further uncovers the impacts these chemicals can have on your body, particularly your lungs. This infographic also highlights the risks of nicotine use, that comes along with the use of vapes.
Episodes 2 and 3 of this infographic series explore other information about vapes. Episode 2 aims to provide context relevant to tradies, about the risks if you are adding vaping to the mix of potential exposures and lung hazards. This infographic also identifies some symptoms that is commonly seen for those with lung damage from vape use. Episode 3 empowers any tradie who is thinking of quitting vapes. This infographic aims to educate and highlight the positives impact quitting vape use will have on your body. Not only will you physically improve, but other aspects of your life will improve if you quit vapes, and this resource identifies some of these. All three resources provide information on Quitline services that are available to support you on your journey to quit vapes.
Lung Foundation Australia developed these resources with support from the Queensland Government. These resources were also developed utilising feedback from young tradies as well as experts in the field. In addition to the three-part infographic series, Lung Foundation Australia also developed two animation videos, and two posters. These resources have been developed to complement and provide the same messaging around the health risks of using vapes, what supports there are available and the benefits of quitting using vapes.
