Are you prepared for the launch of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program from July 2025?

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related illness and death in Australia. However, with early detection, up to 70% of lung cancers can be diagnosed at an earlier, more treatable stage.

In the 2023-24 Federal Budget, funding was provided for a new National Lung Cancer Screening Program. The National Lung Cancer Screening Program is designed to reduce lung cancer-related illness and death by encouraging high-risk individuals to take part in targeted routine screening.

The program is an Australian Government initiative implemented by the Department of Health and Aged Care in partnership with Cancer Australia and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.

The program has been co-designed in partnership with communities and the healthcare workforce to be person-centred, equity-focused, accessible, and culturally safe. It is co-designed to improve lung cancer outcomes for those disproportionately impacted by lung cancer including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Hear from our expert panel for an exclusive webinar hosted by Lung Foundation Australia on how to successfully integrate lung cancer screening into your everyday practice. Topics include:

  • National Lung Cancer Screening Program Overview
  • Screening Pathway Overview
  • Nodule Management
  • National Cancer Screening Register

Learning outcomes:

  1. Define the purpose and importance of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program
  2. Outline your role in promoting and supporting program participation
  3. Implement the National Screening Program Nodule Management Protocol
  4. Identify the role of the National Cancer Screening Register

This virtual learning event is accredited with Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP- Activity ID 1188260) and Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) for one hour and half of Educational Activity
