Exercise safely in the home

The Exercise safely in the home factsheet provides practical guidance for people living with a lung condition who want to continue exercising safely at home. Developed to support individuals during and after pulmonary rehabilitation, the resource outlines important safety considerations before, during and after exercise, helping people build confidence and maintain their physical activity routine.

The factsheet reinforces that pulmonary rehabilitation is the safest and most effective way to learn how to exercise with a lung condition and encourages people to seek advice from their healthcare team before commencing or returning to exercise. It includes simple and easy-to-follow recommendations such as checking for signs of a flare-up, taking prescribed medications, completing an appropriate warm-up, staying hydrated and using oxygen therapy exactly as prescribed. Importantly, the resource highlights warning signs that should never be ignored while exercising.

To find out if exercise is right for you or for further information, guidance and support please contact Lung Foundation Australia’s Lung Health Helpline on (Free call) 1800 654 301.
