Incorporating lived experience
We believe it’s vital to include people with lived experience of lung disease and lung cancer in research projects. We recommend you look at the guide from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) on Principles for consumer involvement in research and watch this Australian Government webinar to help you with this.
How we can work together
We have a proven history as a strong partner and supporter of research. Our partnerships can look different depending on each type of project. We might:
- Work closely with you to develop research ideas, especially if our team needs to be more involved
- Offer letters of support and other contributions to help your project
- Provide advisory services for your research
- Connecting you to people with lived experience in our community to get their valuable input
- Provide guidance around translating your discoveries into patient, clinical practice and policy contexts.
Our focus
We look to support projects that closely align with our main goals and values. These are outlined in our strategic plans, including:
- The National Lung Cancer Blueprint 2022-2025: Accelerating Lung Cancer Reform in Australia
- Transforming the agenda for COPD: A path towards prevention and lifelong lung health
- National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Strategy Framework 2023-2026
- The National Strategic Action Plan for Lung Conditions (NSAPLC)
- National Silicosis Prevention Strategy 2023-2028
Submit your interest
If you are a researcher and would like our support, whether it’s a collaboration to co-develop proposals that may involve more substantial involvement from our team, in-kind contribution, an endorsement, or a cash contribution, please email us at research@lungfoundation.com.au.
Please understand that we can’t support every request we receive. We will review your request carefully, considering how it fits with our goals, our resources and our team’s capacity. We’ll also check for any conflicts of interest. We may respectfully decline requests that don’t align with our current priorities.
