Live Well, Breathe Better: Chronic Lung Disease – Lived Experience Panel

Join us for Lung Foundation Australia’s Chronic Lung Disease Lived Experience Panel webinar, recorded on May 26, 2022. This special event features a panel of individuals living with bronchiectasis and COPD, sharing their personal experiences and insights on managing these conditions.

The webinar begins with an introduction by Tara Rahmanian, who acknowledges the traditional owners of the land and outlines the purpose of the webinar. Tara introduces the panel, which includes Kylie Bice from Western Australia, Denise Porter from Victoria, Clayton Dyer from Queensland, and Ken Bottrell from Victoria. Each panellist shares their journey with their lung condition, providing valuable context for the discussion.

The session addresses pre-submitted questions from the community, covering topics such as the best tips and strategies for lung health, how to help others understand their condition, managing breathlessness and excessive mucus buildup, the impact of weather on lung health, experiences with exercise, and maintaining mental health and wellbeing. The panellists offer practical advice and personal anecdotes, providing a comprehensive view of living with chronic lung disease.

The webinar also features a live Q&A segment, where participants can submit questions via the Q&A box. Tara moderates the questions, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate panellist. This interactive format allows for a thorough discussion on various aspects of managing bronchiectasis and COPD.

The webinar recording is available on-demand via Lung Foundation Australia’s website. Participants who registered for the event will receive an email notification once the recording is available. This ensures that those who couldn’t attend the live session can still benefit from the valuable insights shared by the panellists.

Lung Foundation Australia offers additional support services, including a free Respiratory Care Nurse telephone service for people living with bronchiectasis and COPD. The skilled nurse provides guidance on all aspects of the condition according to evidence-based management guidelines. To make an appointment with the Respiratory Care Nurse, contact the Information and Support Centre on 1800 654 301 and press 3.
