What is breathlessness?
Breathlessness, also known as dyspnoea or shortness of breath, is a common and complex symptom, often indicating underlying health conditions of varying severity. Invisible and often under-diagnosed, breathlessness is not managed optimally in primary care settings¹.
CPD-accredited training for health professionals
In collaboration with clinical experts in breathlessness, Lung Foundation Australia have developed a free, accredited eLearning course for primary care health professionals.
The course provides evidence-based methods for identifying and assessing breathlessness, practical self-management advice for patients, and ongoing resources and support.
By completing the Identifying, assessing and diagnosing breathlessness eLearning, you will acquire the skills to:
- Identify breathlessness as an important presenting symptom of chronic airways disease (CAD) and other conditions
- Identify and determine where breathlessness is a symptom of chronic airways disease
- Implement clinically appropriate diagnostic and referral pathways, e.g. spirometry, imaging, sputum examination, and blood tests, in their clinical practice.
