World COPD Day 2025: Driving Change in Acute COPD Care

On World COPD Day 2025, join healthcare professionals from across Australia for a virtual learning event focused on best-practice care for acute COPD exacerbations requiring hospital admission.

This interactive session will explore what the COPD Clinical Care Standard outlines about evidence-based management of acute COPD, and importantly how to translate the standards into daily practice within hospitals and health services.

The COPD Acute Care Collaborative, delivered in partnership between Lung Foundation Australia and Safer Care Victoria across 10 sites in Victoria, has generated valuable insights into improving care. Participants will learn what strategies are effective, what challenges persist, and how to adapt successful approaches to enhance patient outcomes locally.

Key areas of focus will include:

• Understanding the COPD Clinical Care Standard and its relevance to acute hospital care
• Identifying the most critical elements of best-practice management during hospital admission for an exacerbation to optimise care and patient outcomes
• Learning from data, outcomes, and frontline experiences across 10 Victorian hospitals participating in the COPD Acute Care Collaborative
• Translating evidence and standards into sustainable practice change in your own setting
