The Autohaler is a type of pressurised metered dose inhaler (pMDI). This means the inhaler contains medicine in a canister with a propellant, a type of gas.
The Autohaler is breath-actuated. This means you need to take a slow, steady breath in to release a “puff” of medicine as a fine mist.
Learn how to correctly use an Autohaler by watching the video or following the steps below.

When is the Autohaler empty?
The Autohaler does not have a dose counter. You can keep track of how many doses you’ve used by marking it on a calendar or using a dose-tracking app.
When the inhaler is working, you will hear a click and feel a burst of air when you inhale (step 6).
The inhaler is empty when you do not hear or feel anything when you try to take a dose.
If it’s not time for a new inhaler yet, but you do not hear or feel anything when you try to take a dose, it could mean you have trouble inhaling deeply or strongly enough. If this happens, ask your doctor, nurse or pharmacist to check your inhaler technique. They can help make sure you are getting the full benefit from your medicine.
How do I clean and store the Autohaler?
