Easyhaler

Sections on this page

The Easyhaler is a type of dry powder inhaler (DPI). This means your medicine is delivered as a fine powder that you breathe in.

DPIs are breath-actuated, meaning you need to breathe in quickly and deeply to get the medicine into your lungs.

Learn how to correctly use an Easyhaler by watching the video or following the steps below.

Steps for using the Easyhaler

  1. Check the dose counter to make sure the inhaler isn’t empty.
  1. Take the cap off.
  1. Hold the inhaler upright and shake it 3 to 5 times. Don’t tip the inhaler upside down.
  1. Push down once on the coloured button until you hear a click, and then release.
  1. Breathe out gently, away from the inhaler.
  1. Place lips around the mouthpiece without biting and form a good seal.
  1. Breathe in quickly and deeply.
  1. Take the inhaler out of your mouth and hold breath for 5-10 seconds, or as long as comfortable.
  1. Breathe out gently, away from the inhaler.
  1. Wipe the mouthpiece with a dry tissue.
  1. Replace the cap.

When is the Easyhaler empty?

The inhaler has a dose counter on the side which shows how many doses are left. The counter turns after every fifth dose. When the numbers appear with a red background, there are 20 doses left. You should go to the pharmacy and get a new Easyhaler now. The inhaler is empty when the counter shows a zero.

How do I clean and store the Easyhaler?

Wipe the inhaler mouthpiece with a clean, dry tissue before closing the cover. Do not wash any part of the inhaler or get it wet. Keep in a cool dry place below 25⁰C, away from moisture, heat or sunlight. Do not store it in the bathroom, near a sink or a window, or in the car.

Check the expiration date on your medicine. The inhaler label has a space to write the expiry date of the inhaler. Ask your pharmacist how to safely get rid of any medicine you don’t need.

If you have any questions about using this inhaler, talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist. Your inhaler will come with instructions. Always read these instructions for important information on how to use it.
