By Ian Venamore, Chair
Ian was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 2003. Ian is a father of three and a grandfather to six and lives well with his condition by attending Lung Foundation Australia’s Lungs in Action class regularly.
Firstly, my apologies for the absence of an update in the last issue due to an extended period of illness. However, it did impress upon me the importance of being prepared for what was an awful flu season, and the wonderful job our hospitals and medical staff do in managing such epidemics. So now, free of infection, I am back on deck and catching up on developments with this report.
I write about a vitally important issue for CPAG – membership. CPAG is an independent group of patients and carers affected by COPD supported and advised by Lung Foundation Australia that seeks to raise awareness of COPD and advocate for patients and carers affected by COPD at a local level. CPAG members are desperately needed as, in order to advocate effectively, representation in each state and territory is imperative. We are currently seeking members in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania.
Lung Foundation Australia welcomes engagement from individuals in many ways including awareness campaigns or being involved in a patient support activity. If you are interested in becoming part of the advisory committee, or to get involved, please call freecall 1800 654 301 or email enquiries@lungfoundation.com.au.
Yours in lung health,
Ian Venamore
