Lung Foundation Australia is delighted to be hosting the first Occupational Lung Disease Research Forum for people living with or at risk of silicosis to be held online.
You will have an important opportunity to engage with leading health professionals and legal professionals working in the field of occupational lung disease. You will also have the opportunity to have your say and help define the key issues that researchers and policymakers should be focusing their time and resources on in your opinion.
This event is for anyone who is living with silicosis, their friends, family members or caregivers, and anyone at risk of silicosis working in the construction, mining/quarrying, tunnelling, stone benchtop or manufacturing industries.

Dr Hayley Barnes PhD, FRACP, MPH, MBBS, BBioMedSci (Hons) is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, an Adjunct Lecturer at the Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health and Central Clinical School, Monash University, and the Chair of the Occupational Lung Disease Network Steering Committee for the Lung Foundation Australia. Dr Barnes has extensive experience in assessing and treating people impacted by silicosis.
Jonathan Walsh is a Principal Lawyer and the Queensland and New South Wales practice group leader for asbestos law and dust diseases, based in Maurice Blackburn’s Brisbane office. Jonathan is also a Law Society of NSW Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury (Dust Diseases). Jonathan represents workers impacted by silicosis and silica-related disease across the country.
