Are you ready for COPD exacerbation season? COPD is the second leading cause of avoidable hospital admissions in Australia. Often under and misdiagnosed, once identified COPD poses significant long term management challenges for general practice. This Active Learning Module aims to increase the knowledge, confidence and skills of general practitioners in the diagnosis and management of COPD. Delivered in line with Lung Foundation Australia’s COPDx Guidelines, this workshop Active Learning Module will address the following learning objectives:
- outline the impact of COPD in the Australian community
- identify patients at risk and confirm a diagnosis of COPD
- explain effective non-pharmacotherapy and pharmacotherapy interventions for the management of COPD
- develop a comprehensive plan of care with a patient, including a COPD Action
- plan for managing exacerbations
- utilise evidence based resources to assess and manage patients with COPD
